How Dental Marketing Strategies Work in Spokane

The South Hill and Hillyard are $44,000 of household income apart.

Spokane isn’t one market. So your marketing strategy shouldn’t be a cookie-cutter template, as it’ll burn money instead of making you money.

To create a profitable marketing plan, pick the practice you’re running:

  • One Location, One Dentist

    Who you’re actually competing with:

    Mostly other independent practices.

The chains that have entered Spokane still have only a handful of offices. So the practice most likely competing for your next patient is another independent practice nearby. Washington ranked ninth in the nation for dentists per population in 2022, and Spokane County has about 71 dentists per 100,000 residents. But corporate dentistry has a smaller foothold here, with only 14% of Washington dentists DSO-affiliated in 2024, below the 16.1% national rate. And the chains that crossed the Cascades hold only a handful of offices here.

    The challenge

Spokane County added roughly 19,000 residents between 2020 and 2025. That sounds like easy growth, but new residents don’t have a dentist yet. They search Google, check the map pack, read reviews, and may even ask ChatGPT. If your practice isn’t there when they start looking, you’re leaving new demand to the competition.

And as a solo dentist, There’s rarely time to stop and see whether last month’s marketing spend actually brought in new patients and production.

    The move
Go win the patients who haven’t chosen anyone yet. Practices here run on recall and referral, and the newcomers have neither. They need a reason to recognize and trust you before they ever call.

    You can do so through:

    • Building your site and Google Business Profile around the areas newcomers actually land—the Valley, the north side, Liberty Lake—instead of one generic Spokane page
    • Putting yourself on camera answering the questions patients ask you chairside, so a stranger has already met you before the first visit
    • Making review requests a weekly habit, because a newcomer without a referral trusts the count more than the copy

  • One Location, Two or More Dentists

    Who you’re actually competing with:

The offices where the insurance plan comes first.

Willamette Dental Group runs 19 Washington offices on salaried dentists and its own insurance plan, two of them in Spokane County, at Northpointe and on East Mission in the Valley. On the other end of the market, Apple Health covers adult dental care, but only 28% of Washington dentists took Medicaid patients in 2024. That makes community health centers such as CHAS Health, which saw more than 122,000 patients in 2024, attract much of that demand. Both models sign the patient up before the patient ever hears a dentist’s name.

    The challenge

You sit in the middle, competing for patients who are choosing a dentist rather than an insurance plan—but your marketing report only shows you how the practice is doing overall. One provider is booked six weeks out while the associate you hired to add capacity is waiting for walk-ins.

The practice can look healthy on paper while one provider still has empty chairs—and you have no clear way to see where the gap is coming from.

    The move
Track new patients by the provider they see and the procedure they book. That shows you where your marketing is actually filling chairs—and where you still have room to grow. Then press your actual advantages: unlike the plan offices, you can put named doctors in front of the market, and unlike a solo, you have multiple providers who can take on the demand your marketing creates.

    You can do so through:

    • Connecting reporting to your practice management software, so every new patient maps to a provider and a procedure instead of the front door
    • Scoring inbound calls to see where and why potential patients are getting lost before they book
    • Pointing campaigns at the providers with empty chairs, rather than marketing the practice as one big bucket
    • Putting your providers on camera across your website, social, and ads, so patients know the faces behind the practice

  • Two or More Locations

    Who you’re actually competing with:

Chains using Spokane as their foothold in Eastern Washington.

Heartland Dental chose Spokane for its first supported office in Washington, and Aspen Dental sits in both Spokane and Spokane Valley. Bright Now! Dental runs two offices here, and Comfort Dental’s only Eastern Washington office is on North Division. Meanwhile, the biggest western Washington operators haven’t expanded into Spokane: Pacific Dental Services lists 27 Washington cities, but none east of the Cascades. Corporate coverage here is still limited, but the

    The challenge

Your offices may sit across different city lines, but patients often see them as one market. Spokane and Spokane Valley are separate cities of 230,783 and 108,405 people that read as one town on a map. If two locations target the same searches, they can end up competing with each other instead of owning their own area.

Add to that, each office runs its own software and its own phone habits, making a Division Street month hard to compare with a Sullivan Road month. Without clarity across every location, your budget can end up following the most persuasive office manager—not where the opportunity actually is.

    The move
Make the group legible before you make it bigger. Get every location working from the same numbers: new patients and production. When every office tracks those numbers the same way, you can see which locations need more patients and which are already full. Then put the next marketing dollar where you have room to grow, not where you’ve always spent it.

    You can do so through:

    • One dashboard showing new patients and production for every location, using the same numbers across the group
    • A separate Google Business Profile and dedicated service pages per office, each tuned to its own draw area
    • Reviewing each location’s open capacity every quarter, then moving budget to the offices that need it

Which location should get the next dollar?

Things You Should Ask Before Hiring a Dental Marketing Agency

  • Have you actually done this before for someone like me?

Probably. We’ve worked with over 4657 dental practices throughout the United States, from solo offices to multi-location groups. But push us on it. A win at a twelve-location group tells you nothing if you run one office with two dentists.

  • Can you actually track my ROI, or is it another report full of impressions?

Yes. We track what you spend and how much it adds to your practice growth, your new patient count, and your production. We connect to your practice management software, so you’re looking at real patients and real dollars instead of clicks.

  • How much does this cost?

Marketing plans start as low as $1,500 a month. But that’s like a patient asking what their treatment will cost before you’ve looked in their mouth. One needs a cleaning. One needs full-arch implants. You’d never quote those the same, and neither would we.

Your number depends on your competition, your practice goals, and your marketing budget. We’ll give you a real one once we’ve looked at your market.

  • How fast will I start seeing results?
Paid ads move the needle first, taking about 2-3 months to start generating results. SEO and AI visibility take about 6-12 months, because it’s more of a long game and anyone who gives you a date for organic results is guessing. On the call we’ll tell you which levers move fastest in your market and which ones take patience.
  • What happens after I sign? Do you disappear?
You get a strategist who knows your practice by name. Every quarter you go through your numbers together, they bring one specific thing to change, and budget moves toward whatever actually produced patients.
  • Does Washington have rules about how I advertise?
Yes, three that do most of the work. WAC 246-817-420 lets a general dentist advertise implant or orthodontic services, but never the word specialist, and since 2022, group practices must identify each dentist as a general dentist or a specialist. WAC 246-817-400 requires the dentist who mainly practices in an office to be named in what that office shows the public, and an ad that omits the name counts as misleading by rule. Over both sits RCW 18.130.180, which makes false or misleading advertising unprofessional conduct. Washington has no separate testimonial rule, so testimonials simply have to clear that same bar. We write to those sections, you review every line before it runs, and the final call stays with you and your license.
  • Do you need an office in Spokane to work with practices here?
No. Spokane already imports its demand: it’s the health care center of the Inland Northwest, about one in five working residents here is in health care, and patients travel past closer options to be treated in this county. They come for the outcome, not the address. Hold your agency to the same standard. What should win your business is the research, how your county searches, what the payer mix does to demand, which submarkets have room, and we put all of it in front of you before we spend a dollar.

We're Not Trying to Be Your Next Agency

Just your last one.
Why blending in online is your most
expensive marketing problem

When a patient is choosing a dentist, they’re not just Googling. They’re researching. Scanning your website, watching your videos, looking at your photos, reading your reviews, asking ChatGPT, and forming a gut opinion about whether your practice feels like the right fit. That entire judgment happens before they ever call you.

And if every touchpoint looks like it was pulled from the same dental marketing template—generic headshots, stock imagery, a homepage that could belong to any practice in any city—patients feel no reason to choose you over the dentist two blocks away.

What "blending in" actually costs you
  • Patients visit your online platforms and leave without a reason to reach out
  • Your marketing spend drives traffic that doesn’t convert
  • Competitors win more patients because their presence feels more credible
What we build instead

We start by understanding your market, your ideal patients, and the gap between how you currently show up online and how you should. From there, we build the brand positioning and visual identity that makes your practice instantly recognizable and unmistakably different.

Every asset we create—your website, your videos, your photography—is strategically crafted to make patients feel, within seconds of finding you, that you’re the obvious choice in their market. We’ll also help you schedule and post it seamlessly across your platforms, keeping your practice visible and top-of-mind for potential patients.

  • Custom Dental Website Design: Conversion-focused, built for both dental SEO and user experience
  • Video Marketing: 6 months of content in 1.5 days; patient stories, doctor introductions, and practice walkthroughs that build trust before the first visit
  • Professional Photography: Real team, real space, real reasons to choose you over the stock-photo practice down the street

Whether you’re a single-location dental practice or a growing DSO, your brand identity and digital footprint make your first impression, your credibility signal, and your competitive edge. We make sure it’s working hard in your favor.

What it takes to become the dentist
your entire market already knows

There’s a reason some dental practices seem to be everywhere, and it’s not luck or a better product. It’s omnipresence. And it’s the single biggest differentiator between the dental practice patients can’t stop seeing and the one they’ve never heard of.

Here’s the reality of how patients choose a dentist today: they don’t make a decision the first time they see you. They Google “dentist near me,” scroll past your listing, see your ad on Instagram three days later, watch a short video you posted on YouTube, check your Google reviews, and then book—because you’ve shown up consistently enough to feel familiar and trustworthy.

That journey requires you to be present across every channel, every platform, every search surface your patients use. Most dental marketing services focus on one or two channels and call it a strategy. That’s not a strategy—that’s a gap your competitors are filling.

What omnipresence looks like for a dental practice:
  • Ranking on the first page of Google for the searches your ideal patients are making
  • Showing up in Google’s local map pack when patients search for a dentist near them
  • Showing up consistently on social media with content that builds familiarity and trust
  • Getting cited by ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews when patients ask AI which dentist to choose
  • Running targeted Google Ads and dental PPC campaigns that put you in front of high-intent patients
  • Maintaining a reputation that makes choosing you feel like the obvious, risk-free decision
How we build it:

Our dental SEO services are built on 25+ years of exclusive dental industry experience—making WEO Marketly one of the most trusted dental SEO companies in the country. We optimize your website, content, and local presence for the search terms your patients are actually using, from everyday dental questions to high-intent local searches used by patients ready to schedule.

But ranking on Google is no longer enough. 60% of Google searches now end without a click. Patients are increasingly skipping search engines entirely and asking AI for recommendations instead. Our AI SEO—built on answer engine optimization (AEO)—makes sure your practice gets cited when patients ask ChatGPT or Google’s AI Overviews which dentist to choose. It’s a layer of digital marketing for dentists that most dental marketing agencies haven’t even begun to build. We have.

Our social media marketing for dentists keeps your practice visible and top-of-mind between appointments, with consistent, engaging content across different social media platforms to build the kind of familiarity that turns a stranger into a scheduled patient. Combined with targeted lead generation and dental PPC campaigns, we make sure your practice isn’t just found—it’s chosen.

And once patients find you, your reputation closes the deal. Our dental reputation management service actively builds and protects your patient reviews across Google and beyond, because in a market where patients are comparing 3–5 practices before booking, your star rating and review volume are part of your marketing strategy, whether you treat them that way or not.

Services included
  • Dental SEO: local SEO for dentists, search engine optimization, keyword rankings, Google Business Profile
  • AI SEO (Answer Engine Optimization): AI visibility, ChatGPT visibility, generative search, AI search presence
  • Social Media Marketing: Organic content and social media ads built for patient engagement
  • Lead Generation + PPC: Google Ads, dental PPC, dental advertising campaigns targeting high-intent patients
  • Dental Reputation Management: Patient reviews, review generation, Google Business Profile optimization

Omnipresence is about being everywhere your patients already are, consistently enough that by the time they’re ready to choose, you’re not just an option. You’re the obvious one.

The question your current agency can't answer—
and why that's costing you, patients

Ask your current dental marketing agency this: “Which specific campaign drove my last 20 new patients—and how much revenue did they generate?”

If the answer isn’t immediately clear with actual patient data, you’re inside the dental marketing black box. It’s the single most common frustration we hear from growth-focused dental groups who’ve cycled through multiple agencies: plenty of activity, plenty of reports, zero clarity on what’s actually working.

Here’s why it happens: most dental marketing reporting tracks marketing metrics—clicks, cost per lead, form submissions. These numbers are easy to report but completely disconnected from the only metric that actually matters to a dental practice, patient revenue.

This is where the black box ends.

WEO Marketly’s ROI tracking system integrates directly with your Practice Management Software—connecting your marketing activity to your actual appointment and production data. For the first time, you see the complete picture, which campaigns drove new patients, what procedures they booked, how much production revenue each marketing channel generated, and exactly where your next marketing dollar should go.

Our call scoring service adds another critical layer. Every inbound call gets tracked and scored, so you know which campaigns are generating calls, how many are converting to booked appointments, and where patients are slipping through before they ever walk through your door. For most practices, this alone uncovers a patient acquisition gap they didn’t know existed.

What you see in your WEO Marketly dashboard
  • New patients acquired by the marketing channel and campaign
  • Production revenue generated per channel
  • Total ROI on marketing investment, updated in real time
  • Call tracking, conversion rates, and appointment booking analysis
  • Cost per new patient by source
Services included
  • ROI Tracking (PMS Integrated): Full-funnel dental marketing performance tied directly to patient revenue, not vanity metrics
  • Call Scoring: Call tracking for dental practices, inbound call analysis, appointment conversion insights

This is what separates a dental marketing agency from a dental marketing partner—a real answer to the question every dental practice owner deserves: “Is my marketing actually working?”

What separates a dental marketing vendor
from a true growth partner

Most dental marketing relationships feel transactional. Campaigns go live, reports get sent, retainers get renewed, and nobody’s asking whether any of it is actually growing your practice. Month after month, the same activities run on autopilot while your growth plateaus and your budget quietly drains.

We see what's working. We scale it. We cut what's not.

Once your Omni-Dentist Growth System is running, your dedicated strategist reviews your complete dental marketing performance dashboard every single month—patients acquired, production revenue generated, cost per new patient by channel, and ROI on total marketing investment. Every decision we make is driven by one question: what’s actually moving the needle for your practice?

If a dental SEO campaign is producing high-value patients, we scale it. If a paid dental advertising campaign isn’t converting at the level it should, we fix it or cut it, and reallocate your budget toward what is. Nothing runs on autopilot.

Your biggest growth lever might already be in your database.

Most agencies only chase new patients. But the highest-ROI growth opportunity is often already sitting in your existing patient records—lapsed patients, missed recalls, and treatment plans that were started but never completed. Production revenue waiting to be reactivated.

Our dental patient reactivation service identifies these opportunities and re-engages them with targeted email and SMS campaigns—turning the patients you’ve already won into booked appointments. Because the cheapest patient to book is the one who’s already chosen you once.

Built for growth-focused dental groups that are serious about scaling

Whether you’re expanding from one location to multiple, managing a multi-location dental group, or building toward a dental service organization, your marketing strategy needs to evolve with your practice. That requires a partner who knows your numbers, understands your market, and shows up every month with a proactive plan—not a reactive report.

What a strategic partnership looks like every month:
  • Full review of your ROI dashboard, new patients, revenue per channel, and cost per patient acquisition
  • Identification of your single biggest growth constraint with a specific recommendation
  • Ongoing optimization of dental SEO, dental PPC, social media marketing, and content strategy
  • Patient reactivation campaigns that surface lapsed patients and unfinished treatment plans
  • Proactive budget reallocation based on live performance data
  • Long-term growth planning for multi-location dental practices and DSOs

WEO Marketly has served 4,175+ dental practices since 1999, maintaining an 89.1% client retention rate, because we deliver the kind of dental marketing results that make leaving pointless.

Service included:
  • Strategic Partnership: Dedicated dental marketing strategist, monthly performance reviews, and proactive growth planning for single-location practices, multi-location dental groups, and dental service organizations
  • Patient Reactivation: Targeted email and SMS campaigns that re-engage lapsed patients, missed recall appointments, and unfinished treatment plans—turning your existing database into booked appointments

Growth is something that we build together—deliberately, accountably, every single month.
